About my blog: Writing Straight is from the maxim: God writes straight with crooked lines. Crooked Lines is the title of my first novel. Through life’s crooked lines and learning curves, people are the dots that connect. This website is about connecting with each other to inspire and share about life and writing.
About Holly Michael: I’m a kaleidoscope, twisted and turned by the hand of God through a beautiful life of writing, traveling, and other incredible opportunities. Was a regular freelance ghostwriter and online editor for Guideposts for Teens/Sweet 16 Magazine, creator/editor of a magazine for Wal-Mart Corp., journalist, newspaper features writer, published in a variety of national magazines and local newspapers, script writing/editing for a financial corporation, book reviewer, and now writing fiction and nonfiction, blogging, and editor of Koinonia Magazine. I’m the wife of Rt. Rev. Leo Michael, an Anglican Bishop in the Holy Catholic Church-Anglican Rite. Mom to three wonderful grown kids: My sweet Betsy girl and my two boys: Jake Byrne (former NFL player) and Nick Byrne (Ragin Cajuns). I’ve been blessed to be able to travel extensively across the United States and internationally to India, England, Scotland, France, and Canada. My first novel, Crooked Lines, was published in 2014. My second book-nonfiction-Tsunami 2004 – Still Wading Through Waves of Hope was published on the ten year anniversary of the 2004 Tsunami. Plan to have at least two more books published in 2016. Updates to come!
Awesome blog!!!
It’s so funny that we connected because of photography since it sounds like we have a pretty similar writing background. Looking forward to hearing more about your books!
Thanks Sheila. I got a email from an agent today who wants to represent my book! Yay
Congratulations! I’m really happy for you. I know how hard it is to write a book and go through the query process and wait and wait. I’m so glad to hear that the agent dream still comes true!
thanks Sheila!

Hi Holly,
I saw you had followed my blog and wanted to check yours out. Cannot wait when I have more time to come back and read. This is really a great blog and thanks for following mine. God Bless, SR
I followed it from that Anti-Catholic blog post. I’m Anglican Catholic…love Mother Mary!
See good comes out of everything bad:>)) I got to meet you and see your great blog! That post really hit a nerve in me. I really do not care what anyone is myself. I do not agree with hurting people, and that really hurt me. Had been following their blog, praying they would get the baby, and then that post!!! Being a convert I see both sides, but I do not agree with this tearing down thing. I love Mother Mary also. God Bless, SR
Exactly. I think I was first to comment that Catholics are Christians…I mean, give me a break…Catholicism has been Chrisitianity for 2000 years. Here’ my post about my Mother Mary miracle. https://writingstraight.com/2012/02/15/how-does-it-all-connect/

Thanks… ditto. 🙂
And, I see that you mention India being your spiritual home. My husband is from India and we’ve visited there several times. I have some India photos and blog posts on my blog. Ok, I’ll be quiet now.
I’ve been twice now and have traveled quite a bit there. Love it! Plan to take my 15 year old there in a year and a half. We had planned to go next spring, but are thinking of waiting another year, so that he can concentrate on school. I never get tired of talking about India, but haven’t written about it yet… too deep and special. I have a couple of pieces on the line though. 😉 Thanks for checking out my info.
Thank you for following stopping by and following my blog. I look forward to reading your posts. Congratulations on the book! Is it available on Kindle?
Thanks for following. I am so pleased to be followed by a writer, an editor, a journalist and many more. But most of all, to be followed by someone who speaks of God, someone who helps others to be connected with their Creator and with other people. Keep on inspiring your readers. I shall be following you

Hi Holly, and thank you for the offer to help with the Catharsis release. I’ll be releasing CATHARSIS, Legend of the Lemurians (Earth Keepers Chronicles: Book 1), on 9/13, and would certainly appreciate your mentions/tweets about that.
I will have a blog post about the release and about the Catharsis Reader Appreciation Promo, starting 9/13.
If you read this type of stories (it’s YA dystopian/visionary fantasy), I am presently sending out ARC’s to my reviewers, and I’d certainly be honored it you were one of my first reviewers. But no pressure whatsoever.
If you’d like that, I can send you ARC for your consideration.
Please let me know here or by Twitter DM.
Thanks so much and cheers!
Congrats on your new awards! You deserve them 🙂
Lada
Thanks Lada, haven’t had time to collect the new awards yet, but I will. Please send the ARC and I’ll see what I can do. It’s a bit crazy now, but I’ll try to read it and review it also
Thanks so much, Holly. I really appreciate it, but no pressure whatsoever. 🙂 I see what you mean about it ‘being a bit crazy.” Same here. 🙂
I don’t seem to have your email. Could you send it to me in a Twitter DM, or if it’s more convenient – via my website private contact form: http://www.ladaray.com/contact.html

Wow, you’re busy. Nice sites. I love the news site too! I’ll be checking them out often!
Well thank you, Holly. Glad u liked them. I appreciate it. The news site (VOL) might get overwhelming right now from time to time…as so many things are happening that pertain to prophecy. It’s one thing after another this year, that’s for sure! Thnx, and again, God bless you always!
oooh, I love news sites pertaining to prophecy. Just what I was looking for and thinking about lately! Thanks Lyn
You’re welcome. Here lately, I’ve been doing some reblogs from it on lyn leahz to circulate it more because it’s fairly new. I invited a few other bloggers as authors. I’ve got a pro life woman (major activist in the State of Ohio), one who does Christian persecution and the Body of Christ, and one who helps out with prophecy news. I just post a little bit of everything!
And thank u! ♥♥♥♥

Praising Jesus who makes my crooked places straight; my rough places smooth!
Love the name of your blog and the reason behind it from the maxim. I think I heard it before, but now I will remember it! Love it! God writes straight with crooked lines. So true! If I my memory was better I would quote some lines from C.S. Lewis similar to what you quoted. 🙂 You look too young to have adult children! Congrats! 🙂
Thanks!! And love the comment about looking young! I’ll be 50 on my next birthday! But, I still feel young, so that’s what counts, right? Great to get to know you.
No way!! Wow! That’s great. I don’t look my age either. Never have actually. I didn’t appreciate it when I was younger but I appreciate it now the older I get. haha! Some still say I look like I’m in my 20’s though I’m actually pushing 40. I’ll be hanging out now though in the 30’s for a few years longer. 😉
Lol, Good living, right?!
LOL..nah, good genes. Most of my family on my mom’s side don’t look their age either. 😉 But good living helps, I’m sure.
Same here…good genes! and good living too. 🙂
Well, we can praise God for both, amen? Heehee. Nice to meet you, Holly!
Yep, Amen to that…and I didn’t find your name on your site.
I’m a little leery of attaching my name to my blog. That’s why you don’t see it. I’m a little cautious. Maybe too cautious and paranoid about stalkers and such.
I totally understand
Thank you for understanding. God bless!! 🙂

Thank you. Great to connect and happy new year
I saw that you work for Guideposts…do you happen to know Ptolemy Tompkins? I know it’s a long shot, but I thought I’d ask.
No, I just knew one editor. I don’t know him
thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Hi Holly! I just love the premise for your book! Just read the blurb – and am TOTALLY intrigued. As a “thriver” of an unequally yoked marriage, spiritual mismatch (even if it’s not in the romantic sense) gets me every time. Have you ever read The Secret Diary of Elisabeth Leseur?
No, but I’m going to check it out right now!!
And I would LOVE to do a review on my blog. Love, love, love!
Awww…thanks!!! 🙂
And your boys are adorable!!!!
Thanks – they’re my instahappy. Just hug and wrap my arms around all that innocence and carefree outlook. 😀
I have two boys and wish I could shrink them back to those ages sometimes. Now they can pick me up.
Thank you for liking my latest blog post from another crooked person who God is straightening out.
lol. He’s still trying to straighten me out, too. 🙂
