Ohhhh, the dreaded back cover blurb. Writing the book is the easy part compared to head-breaking blurbs and the horrible one-page synopsis. I am finally saying THE END (unless someone finds a glaring error) to the blurb for Crooked Lines, my first novel, debuting August 3rd, 2014!
Here’s the blurb:
Two continents. Two cultures. Two souls seek hope and a future.
On the shores of Lake Michigan, Rebecca Meyer seeks escape. Guilt-ridden over her little sister’s death, she set her heart on India, a symbol of peace.
Across the ocean in South India, Sagai Raj leaves his tranquil hill station home and impoverished family to answer a higher calling. Pushing through diverse cultural and religious milieus, he labors toward his goals, while wrong turns and bad choices block Rebecca from hers.
Traveling similar paths and bridged across oceans through a priest, the two desire peace and their divine destiny. But vows and blind obedience at all costs must be weighed…And buried memories, unearthed.
Crooked Lines, a beautifully crafted debut novel, threads the lives of two determined souls from different continents and cultures. Compelling characters struggle with spirituality through despair and deceptions in search of truth.

Thanks Caryl. Because of your help!!
Thanky!!!
Sounds good to me! Writing that back blurb is the hardest part for me too. I love the cover as well! I’m so excited for you! Can’t wait to read it!
Thanks Chris, how are things coming along for you?
“Traveling similar paths and bridged across oceans through a priest,”
Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are attempting to say, but should the word “bridged” be “bridging” to agree with your word “Traveling.” Otherwise, it is excellent.
Thanks Larry, they are bridged by the priest, meaning he is the connecting factor between the two. Does that make sense. Or maybe you are right.
It sounds wonderful! I have to agree with you. All of these post-novel-writing exercises– blurbs, synopses, the dreaded QUERY LETTER–are all instruments of torture intended only to cause enough writers to yank out all their hair and burst into a pile of ash so that we essentially thin our own ranks and leave the market to the few strong survivors. Congrats on surviving! 😉
Well put Nicole, lol.
Oh, and sorry to be the only pain in the butt commenter to make an editing suggestion, but your second sentence in your first paragraph is in past tense, while the rest of the blurb is in present tense. LOL! But the blurb really is great!
Oh, my!!! STOP the presses!
