Even as bright and shining bodies, once touched by a ray of light falling on them, become even more glorious and themselves case another light, so too souls that carry the Spirit, and are enlightened by the Spirit, become spiritual themselves and send forth grace upon others.
This grace enables them to foresee the future, to understand mysteries, to grasp hidden things, to receive spiritual blessings, to have their thoughts fixed on heavenly things, and to dance with the angels. So is their joy unending, so is their perseverance in God unfailing, so do they acquire likeness to God, so-most sublime of all-do they themselves become divine. ~ St. Basil the Great
Hmmm. Not sure about this one Holly. Very inspirational and beautiful to read. But, I don’t agree with the statements. Thanks for sharing though, because I’m not familiar with St Basil, and now I’m curious to do some research.
Hi Lon, I know what you’re thinking. Sounds new-agey, doesn’t it? I thought the same, coming from our day and age, but then considered it from St. Basil’s time and wondered if looking at the words from a different perspective and age made a difference. I’m curious about your thoughts. .
