Have you seen this badge around?Probably because there are so many winners around, including me! We did it! November was National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). And today, on December 1st, I, and many other writers, have entered into December having accomplished the 50,000 word goal of writing the first draft of a novel in thirty days! Yahoo! That’s why my blog has been so silent last month. Pretty excited about novel #3.
Also, after returning to my blog, I discovered an exciting surprise waiting for me. Arnel Gonce over at All Things Boys Blog awarded me a newly created award called The Blog of the Year Award 2012. Arnel is mom to three teenage boys. She needs an award just for that! You’ll love her humorous, inspirational blog. Don’t miss “Floral Fridays,” where she displays more of her lovely photography. Here’s the award:
As you can see there is one gold star with the possibility of six in total.
The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:
1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award
2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen — there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required — and ‘present’ them with their award.
3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award — http://thethoughtpalette.co.uk/our-awards/blog-of-the-year-2012-award/ and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)
4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them
5 You can now also join our Facebook group — click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience
6 As a winner of the award — please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award — and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…
Yes — that’s right — there are stars to collect!
Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once — this award is different!
When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award — and every time you are given the award by another blog — you can add another star!
There are a total of 6 stars to collect.
Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs — and even if they have already been given the award by someone else — you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

You are so sweet, Holly! Thank you for thinking of me, and mega-congrats on the NANO win! YAY!
P.S. Yours truly was so consumed with finishing THE EARTH SHIFTER on time that she forgot to validate her novel for NANO, and now I fear it’s too late (oops).
But the most important thing is to publish it, right? 🙂
exactly, that’s the main goal! Best wishes with that. I’m working on finishing up novel #2, but was glad to get the bones of novel #3 down. Keep writing!!
Sounds great, and same to you, Holly!
Holly, I noticed you were MIA for the past little while. Now I know why! Congratulations on your 50,000 (!) word NaNoWriMo Award – well deserved for sure. Thank you for including 8kidsandabusiness in your list of Blog of the Year Award. I really am honoured, touched, humbled and appreciative. Keep up your wonderfully inspirational writing.

Hi Holly! Guess what! I gave you BLOG of the YEAR 2012 AWARD too, in full compliance with the award rules, because I would have given it to you anyway, regardless of whether you gave it to me or not. Cheers and hugs! 🙂
Check it out: http://ladaray.wordpress.com/2012/12/04/the-earth-shifter-and-blog-of-the-year-2012-award/
Wow, Lada! You’re awesome! Thank you!!!
Holly, You are so gracious! I confess it took forever to get the last two awards up and then I started a draft for new awards and then forgot to do it. It’s a busy time of the year, but I will make an effort to post all the awards you’ve given and pass them on. So glad you got your first draft on your novel completed. Wow! I am very impressed!! Good for you!!
I am in prayer about some new goals for next year. I’ve blogged now for over a year and feel I want to do something different and would need to back away from posting blogs as often. Should I decide to write a book…and I said I would never do it(:, but if I did, what are some tips you could give. For instance, do you just write and not do any editing until you get your 50, 000 words?
Blessings to you dear Holly. I look forward to meeting you some day in person, if not here…then when we get to heaven. (:
love in Christ Jesus, Glenda
By the way, have a very merry and wonderful Christmas as we celebrate Jesus, the reason for the season and the object of our worship.
Glenda, where do you live? If you want, email me at hjmichael@sbcglobal.net and I’ll give you more information answering your questions above. Love ya!!!

Wow, thank you Seetam!
Congratulations on meeting your NaNoWriMo goal! That’s wonderful. I just came over to read your most recent post and was surprised to find myself included on your Blog of the Year list. Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness. It is my fourth star, and each one is an honor. Thanks, Holly.
Thanks Lori,
Sorry, I meant to let everyone know, but I got distracted, then forgot who I let know and who I didn’t. Oops. You deserve it!
No problem. I know how challenging and time-consuming those award posts are to write. It was a wonderful surprise.
🙂
Congratulations on BOTH! I signed up for the nano gig and completed…. 4,000 words! I did a few writing sessions with my teenage daughter (who one it last year and this) and had to laugh.
“M,” I said, “this is getting so bad. My characters are sticking their tongues out at each other!”
M replied: “Its national WRITING month, mom, not EDITING month. That’s for December.”
Sigh.
That’s when I quit.
As to the blog of the year award? Got my first star a few weeks ago – what a sweet thing, am I right? Kudos to you!

Haha. That’s funny about the characters sticking out their tongues at each other. My 50K is a lot of jibberish, but it’s something at least. This was my first year and I really don’t like writing like that, but I got it done anyway. Thanks for stopping by.
Sorry that this showed up twice – I re-sent it because wordpress has these issues and doesn’t post my comments. Feel free to delete one of them! As to the story I began – it still has some value and I find myself straying from my might Irish Epic novel that’s been in process for over 2 years. I must’ve done something right that I still want to see them out of the pickle they’re in!
Congrats, really, on both outstanding accomplishments.
Congrats dear one, you will do it!
